in april my family and i travelled to southern brazil to visit my wife's family. we spent most of our time in the porto alegre area (canoas, sao leopoldo, esteio) but included a six-day trip to florianopolis and a two-day trip to the serra gaucha (gramado, novo petropolis, sao francisco de paula, etc.).
as much as i like the beaches in brazil, my favorite place to visit is the serra... the steep rolling hills, canyons, araucaria trees, and lush vegetation are invigorating to the soul! here are a few pictures we took:

snowboarding
decided to make life a bit more exciting and took up snowboarding. took a lesson, confirmed my interest, and went out and suited myself up with all the accessories including a Burton Custom (58)... hopefully i won't be a "poser" for too long.
went out again for a few hours and practiced what i've learned so far. so far, so good.

about languages
i speak conversational spanish, portuguese, french and italian. would like to improve my italian and add german to the list.
